How do I install the Flash Player plugin?

For all Web browsers:

• Download the Flash Player plugin from Adobe
• Once the download is completed, click on 'Open' in the download dialog; you may be prompted to ensure that you want to execute this program
• When the installation completes, your Web browswer will open on the Adobe homepage displaying an active Flash movie

How do I install the Java plugin?

Navigate to Java.com and click on the 'Free Java Download' button.

I have Java installed, but I do not see a way to chat on the System Check page - what can I do?

The Virtual Summit Chat system is available to all participants as a Java applet and requires a browser plug-in that supports Java 1.5 or higher.

If you cannot see the chat interface displayed, you must first ensure that Java is enabled in your browser:

Enabling Java in Internet Explorer:

1. Click "Tools" --> "Internet Options"
2. Select the Advanced Tab, and scroll down to "Java (Sun)"
3. Check the box next to the "Use Java 2" version
4. Next, select the Security Tab, and select the "Custom Level" button
5. Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets"
6. Make sure the "Enable" radio button is checked.
7. Click OK to save your preference.

Enabling Java in Mozilla Firefox:

1. From the menu bar, choose Edit --> Preferences
2. Select the Advanced category
3. Check the box labeled "Enable Java"
4. Click OK to save your preference.

The final step is to proceed to the Virtual Summit System Check page.  If your installed version of Java does not meet minimum requirements or you do not have a Java runtime environment installed, you will be directed to the Sun Microsystems Java download page where you can obtain the required plug-in for your browser.

Once you have completed these steps, you can return to the Virtual Summit and the Chat applet will load correctly.  In the unlikely event that this does not repair your issue, please proceed to the Support page to obtain a toll-free number which you can call for support.
